Device to secure endotracheal tube in prone patient

Project Overview

Scott Springman, an anesthesiologist at the UW hospital here in Madison, is looking for an endotracheal tube attachment that will secure the tube in place during surgery. Taping the tube in place is a common method used in the majority of surgeries but does not suffice when patients are in certain positions such as the prone position. Scott is in need of a way, without covering the face or taking up too much space in the mouth to prevent motion of the endotracheal tube. Our job is to design a device that effectively secures the tube in a patient but still allows for accessibility of the face and mouth.
