Project Overview

A direct laryngoscopy is a common intubation procedure involving the insertion of a tube through the vocal cords and down the trachea. If botched, this procedure can cause damage to the surrounding organs, or cause air to enter the esophagus leading to respiratory failure. In order to allow medical students to practice executing this procedure, we will construct a sensor-enabled mannequin which will offer real-time feedback to practicing students on whether they took the correct pathway, and whether they avoided all peripheral structures.
