Project Overview

Design a realistic model of a human torso focusing on the proximal half of the humerus. Within 1 year, 100+ medical students will perform the intraosseous procedure on this device. Our trainer must include multiple tissue layers and a realistic humeral bone to drill into. There must be an adjustable elbow and shoulder that can transition from 180° to 90° and preform 45° abduction respectively. The skin should be self-healing with a lifespan of 1000 insertions. The bone used should withstand 20 insertions. The material used for the skin, muscle, and bone the injection site should be easily replaceable. Overall, our design should be less than 50 lbs. and the cost should not exceed $600.
