Fetal radiation shield for pregnant patients receiving radiation therapy

Project Overview

The Radiation Therapy department of University Hospital is seeking a safe and effective shielding device for pregnant women who require radiation therapy. The shield will need to be mobile, adaptable to a variety of treatment delivery machines and techniques, and be safe to use by all involved. This team will design, fabricate, and test the shield with clinical treatment delivery systems with the goal of reducing the effects of ionizing radiation on the fetus.
