Project Overview

Aptamers have large potential for applications in the field of drug discovery and therapeutics because they are small, inexpensive, and easily modified. Despite great prospect, current methods for aptamer selection are tedious and labor-intensive (1). While systematic evolution of ligands by exponential experiment (SELEX) is a commonly used method for aptamer selection, current protocols cannot accommodate the large volume of aptamers necessary to take full advantage of the diverse oligonucleotide libraries. The goal of this project is to develop a device that can contain 1 million cells and allow 250 nmole of aptamers to perfuse around the cells, as doing so will allow for the maximum possible selection of aptamers
