Project Overview

Rhinoscopy is a noninvasive procedure used to evaluate the nasal cavity and sinus region. It is performed often on small animals such as dogs and cats. Currently, the only way for a veterinary student to train for this procedure is by learning on a client-owned animal. This results in a high stress environment and high risk on the patient. This project aims to create a low fidelity model of the canine nasal sinuses that will provide practice maneuvering the rigid rhinoscopy scope before performing the full procedure on a live animal. The model should ideally be gamified, somewhat like the game “Operation”, to allow users to quantify their mistakes and encourage a thorough and proper examination.
