At home test kit to monitor Sickle cell disease to prevent hospitalizations brought around by Vaso occlusive crises(VOC).

Project Overview

Sickle cell disease can cause painful and damaging blockage of blood pathways and lead to frequent hospitalizations. The desired device is meant to function as an at-home test for patients diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease to monitor the risk of Vaso-Occlusive Crises. This will allow the patient to self-monitor their condition and receive medical care before crises occur. For this semester, one prototype and one model have been produced to establish the trends of how far healthy vs. sickled blood travels through a microchannel based on the two parameters. Testing conducted will determine if there is indeed differential distance traveled between the samples.
