The client, Dr. David Wassarman, has requested a team to improve the design of a high-impact trauma (HIT) device for causing traumatic brain injury in flies. The biggest concern is the device needs to be easy to use and consistent between users, and if reproducible, it needs to be consistent between devices. It also needs to be reusable. The device should also be automated and able to scale up the number of flies being tested. The client would also like to monitor what is occurring during the HIT process, and be able to calculate the force received by the flies.
