Remote patient monitoring app/device for pregnancy related hypertension disorders
Project Overview
Without a prompt diagnosis and treatment of postpartum hypertensive disease, the consequences could as serious as stroke or postpartum eclampsia. Unfortunately, with most mothers’ being discharged after 48 hours of giving birth, monitoring hypertensive systems can be a struggle for practitioners. Remote patient monitoring app/device for pregnancy related hypertensive disorders will help bridge the gap between the hospital and home care after giving birth. The device will consist of a mobile app in conjunction with a bluetooth-enabled blood pressure cuff and heart rate monitor to measure outpatient vitals and transfer those readings to a nurse database. Ideally, this will decrease or eliminate patient readmission postpartum, especially relating to hypertension. The app will provide a medium for physician-patient interaction, patient monitoring and video conference with healthcare specialists.
