Project Overview
The overall goal of the Thermal-Tactile Stimulation device is to test if the application of vibration and thermal change on the throat may be used to treat swallowing disorders such as dysphagia. Studies have shown that a thermal-tactile stimulation may improve swallowing function but have been largely inconsistent and inaccurate due to the variability of manual application [1]. The goal of the prototype is to create a device that can accurately assess how variable temperature, and vibrational stimulation may impact swallowing function and stimulation on individuals suffering from dysphagia.
