Our goal is to develop a bougie introducer for safe intubation.

Project Overview

Intubation is a common medical procedure to establish an accessible airway in a patient. In patients with difficult airways, a bougie can be used to assist intubation with an endotracheal tube; however, the endotracheal tube can often "catch" on the vocal folds of the patient. This problem can potentially damage the vocal folds, suspend intubation, or result in intubation failure which can ultimately lead to severe injury or death to the patient. Our goal is to develop a tube that can prevent the endotracheal tube and bougie from "catching" the vocal folds resulting in a safe intubation procedure.
