Flow limitation during forced expiration in an airway model
This project has been secured to protect intellectual property.
Login for More InformationDevelopment of a model that demonstrates the equal pressure point theory of flow limitation in human large airways.
Project Overview
The Equal Pressure Point Theory provides an explanation for why flow is limited during forced expiration. The Flow Limiting Segment (FLS) is known to move distally toward the alveoli as forced expiration continues. The model created through this project will illustrate this FLS motility for demonstrative purposes. It will aim to be as anatomically accurate as possible, particularly in terms of materials that match compliance of airway tissue. Dr. Green plans to use this model both in videos and in-person sessions to educate his fellows at the School of Medicine.
