Project Overview
In order to ensure the safety of patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures, electromagnetic and computed tomography guidance systems are often implemented to track the movement and trajectory of medical instruments. The accuracy and stability of these tools are of the utmost importance, but there exists no training program or sophisticated modeling system for young medical professionals to gain experience on before performing procedures on patients. Additionally, interventional radiologists are forced to rely on vendors regarding the reliability of the technology and have no way to investigate the accuracy over a period of time. Thus, a safe, informative training procedure is needed to more efficiently train incoming radiologists, and a testing system is needed to validate and quantify the accuracy of the imaging technology.
