Dual handheld and video otoscopy unit

Develop an Otoscopy unit with a handheld eyepiece that simultaneously relays a video feed to a more distanced observer for teaching otoscopic examinations in dogs and cats.

Project Overview

The current designs of handheld otoscopes for animal practice do not allow video transfer to a distant view compared to a video otoscope, which is practiced differently in simulations. The goal is to design a handheld otoscope with video capabilities to allow student-performed examinations to be visualized to the faculty for assessments.

Project Status

BME402 Semester 2
So far we have built a working prototype using beam splitter, lens, a handheld microscope and 3D printed casing. This semester we will be further improving the prototype's image quality, stability and lumination.
