A device that is capable of monitoring and tracking of muscle characteristics, including mass, muscle to fat ratio, and quality of the muscle.

Project Overview

Sarcopenia is a muscle disorder that affects over 25% of the population over 60 years of age or chronically ill. Current technologies available for the diagnosis and monitoring of this condition are expensive and require the procedure to be done in a clinical setting. Our noninvasive medical device will be used to record impedance and calculate a muscle quality metric to be compared overtime. This device will use Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology to measure and store this data. Additionally, the device will be compact, low in price, and easy to use. This criteria is essential as it will allow the device to be accessible for both clinical and at-home use
