To develop a test to quantify the vitamin D 25-hydroxy level in a patient that is less invasive than a blood draw and just as accurate.

Project Overview

Monitoring of vitamin D 25-hydroxy levels in patients is critical regarding bone pathology in pediatrics specifically. The current method to obtain vitamin D 25-hydroxy levels uses a blood draw which can be invasive and time consuming for young patients. There is a need to develop an accurate, non-invasive or minimally invasive method for measuring 25(OH)D without relying on blood draws. The purpose of the project is to create a device, test method, or improve upon initial testing, that can non-invasively measure the vitamin D 25(OH)D levels in the body.
