Project Overview

Arrhythmias are very common in the post-operative setting of cardiac health, and they can lead to an extended stay in the hospital, morbidity, or even death. A common form of treatment is to apply electric cardioversion to reestablish a normal cardiac rhythm. However, electric current across the heart or skin can damage tissue and be quite painful. The use of magnetic fields in a form of magnetic cardioversion could change this billion dollar industry by providing a more precise and less damaging treatment method.
