The project aims to increase bicycle safety awareness for individuals with thick braided hair and varying hairstyles by designing a helmet that provides both comfort and safety for bicycling.

Project Overview

Helmets are a necessity for safe bicyclists however commercially available helmets lack the accommodations needed for varying hairstyles. Additionally, individuals with these incompatible hairstyles usually buy helmets a larger size which reduces the amount of safety that the helmet would usually be capable of providing. The incorrect size may lead to additional injury upon large impact.
The goal of this project is to build and improve on the current designs working towards accommodating the incompatible hairstyles with the commercially available helmets while maintaining the current or better safety a helmet should provide.
