This device creates a plating system that allows fractured acetabular bones to stay aligned during the healing process as well as achieving a one-size-fits-all plating system.

Project Overview

Various plating systems today are used to help heal acetabular fractures in the hip bone. The purpose of these plating systems are to allow for proper support and alignment of the fractured bones to stay together during the healing process. Current plating systems on the market are too bulky, require readjustment of sizing to the patient's hipbone, don't result in proper alignment of the fractured bones, and are unable to be screwed in at a proper angle due to the anterior intrapelvic approach (AIP). The clients, Dr. Mauffrey and Dr. David have tasked us to help develop a new plating system that will solve these arising problems from current systems in the market.
