The team's objective is to create a device which can keep temperature and carbon dioxide levels stable while simultaneously leading to ease of use for lab technicians.

Project Overview

Our lab is working on magnetically driven particles and substrates for cell/tissue manipulation. For magnetic actuation, we developed a 5-coil electromagnetic system placed on an inverted microscope, which has stiff and bulky connection cables that prevent use of conventional environmental chambers. In addition, electromagnetic coils also heat up during actuation, which requires a fine temperature probing close by the sample and control accordingly. Therefore, we are interested in a custom-designed miniaturized environmental incubation chamber that would allow motion of the microscope with the electromagnetic system on top and provide stable temperature and CO2 concentration. Besides, the environmental enclosure design must ensure that the optical pathway of microscope is clear.

Requirements:
Maintain 37℃ and 5% CO2 concentration
Does not impede the optical path
Allow electromagnetic actuation setup placement
Easy readout of conditions
Ability to move microscope stage with ease
