Ergonomic endoscopic attachment to reduce musculoskeletal strain
This project has been secured to protect intellectual property.
Login for More InformationThe goal of this project is to decrease the musculoskeletal strain in the left thumb and the right wrist during endoscopic procedures.
Project Overview
Gastroenterologists face an increased risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to the repetitive and physically demanding nature of endoscopic procedures. This risk is particularly pronounced among trainees and physicians with smaller hand sizes. Although endoscopes are available in various models to meet patient-specific needs, there remains a lack of ergonomic adaptability to support physician comfort and safety. The objective of this project is to develop an attachment that integrates with existing endoscope handles and provides adjustable features to accommodate a range of users, with particular emphasis on individuals with smaller hands or reduced grip strength.
