Flow limitation during forced expiration in an airway model
This project will create a physical airway model that measures flow limitation during forced expiration to better understand obstructive lung conditions.
Project Overview
Airway collapse during forced expiration limits airflow in obstructive pulmonary diseases like COPD and asthma, making it difficult to evaluate using standard clinical tools alone. This project aims to design and construct a physical airway model with adjustable mechanical properties and pressure sensors to simulate exhalation dynamics. The resulting design will enable precise measurement of pressure and flow changes to better understand the mechanisms behind dynamic airway collapse.
