Project Overview
Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) affects up to 9% of primary hip replacement patients and is typically treated with a full-body brace, causing significant strain on families. Our team is designing a diaper that encourages the "M-position," hips abducted and knees elevated above the waist, to prevent and correct DDH in infants aged 0 to 6 months. The device must function as a reusable, washable diaper, fit sizes Newborn through Size 2, and remain comfortable and discreet enough for continuous daily wear. By integrating hip positioning directly into a familiar daily-use item, our design aims to serve as a preventative care route, reducing the physical and emotional burden that current treatment devices place on infants and their families.
