Project Overview
Pediatric patients with congenital heart defects often require early interventional procedures to improve blood flow through vascular pathways. One of these procedures involves placing stents within arteries to maintain or increase blood flow. Accurate stent localization is essential during deployment to minimize complications, especially near arterial branchpoints. The primary goal of this project is to develop a localization device that can integrate with current catheter and guidewire deployment systems. The design will incorporate an additional wire that will advance and progress perpendicular to the stent which will allow for improved stent positioning and localization at vascular branchpoints during these cardiac procedures.
