Problem Statement: Whole body vibration has had promising results when used as a type of exercise to strengthen muscle function, promote balance and increase bone strength. One concern with vibration therapy is the risk of transferring excessive vibration to parts of the body that are particularly susceptible to tissue damage such as the head and spine. However, studies have also noted that low intensity vibration displays few of the benefits commonly associated with vibration exercise. In other words, a balance must be found between these two extremes. This team will continue to work on a product that can monitor vibration and posture while giving feedback to the user of vibration exercise machines such that they can exercise in a manner that is both safe and efficient.
