Login for More Information

The team will develop a Robotic Arm Sonographer Assist (RASA) device to alleviate pressure on sonographers’ shoulders from ultrasound scanning that often leads to the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

Project Overview

The team will design a device that assists sonographers in ultrasound procedures by applying up to 30 pounds of force with a transducer by linear translation. The transducer must be free to rotate and reach any point on the patient’s abdomen. These design specifications will reduce strain on the sonographer’s shoulder while still obtaining quality images.
