Project Overview

Vascular access can be incredibly difficult during procedures based on the variability of a
patient's anatomy. There is currently not an accepted technique for improving the localization of
the needle tip which can make procedures more complicated in situations when the anatomy is
varied. The purpose of this device is to combine ultrasound technology with HoloLens and a
needle to more accurately access vasculature in the human body. Several goals within this
purpose include developing a method of communication between the HoloLens and ultrasound
probe, integrating a needle into the device for a mixed reality representation, and ultimately
better localization of the needle tip.
