Project Overview

Our long term goal is to develop a yoga/therapy floor mat that senses hand and foot location, pressure distribution with visual presentation of body position with a smartphone app to connect teacher/therapist and client to facilitate remote participation in physical activities such as yoga or Occupational Therapy with safe and accurate home practice of physical activities between interactions with the teacher/therapist.

Ultimately, we envision having:
1) a set of video recordings of common yoga and therapy activities with voice over, English subtitles and a split screen showing proper hand and foot location on the mat.
2) The ability for the teacher/therapist to select the activities and input a number of repetitions and/or length of time and frequency for each activity as a prescription for home practice between interactions with the teacher.
3)The ability for the client to view the prescription and videos as desired to refresh their memory with the mat sensing and software recording the activities done. As in, the app knows what hand/foot positions represent which activity and can count reps and/or duration with a report that can be reviewed by client and teacher/therapist.
4) 2-way real time video, audio and mat data interaction between teacher/therapist during remote visits, ideally with a low-resolution option that works over DSL/land line.
5) A secure, HIPAA compliant app and server storage system that includes
