The design will analyze the user’s gait in real time, providing constructive feedback to the user.

Project Overview

The design will account for the angular positioning of the user’s form, including angles in all three axes at the ankle, degree of knee extension, as well as degree of hip flexion and extension. These metrics will be interpreted to provide real-time feedback to the user on how to adjust their stride. Additionally, feedback should be provided post-run and should include recommendations aimed at reducing injury between runs, such as strength-building exercises for weak muscle groups. If the user’s gait metrics deem it so, then the coaching system should also refer the user to a medical professional for treatment. Real-time feedback should not be invasive during the user’s run.
