Project Overview

In collaboration with the client, Dr. R. Allan Jhagroo, the team has been tasked to develop a device to work in conjunction with a smartphone to detect the presence of white blood cells in dialysis fluid excretions. Ideally, this device will be able to assess a patient's risk for infection while also tracking their progress over time. Eliminating human error in the detection of white blood cells could decrease the risk of infection and death for patients on peritoneal dialysis as well as greatly increase their quality of life.
