Design a device that will automate the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals

Project Overview

Radiopharmaceuticals are a group of radioactive agents given to patients for therapeutic (killing cancerous cells) or diagnostic (activating target tissues on positron emission tomography (PET) scans) purposes. Currently, our client performs the synthesis of these radiopharmaceuticals by hand, and due to the half-life of the isotopes used, the synthesis must be done on the demand of the procedure for which it is being used. The goal of this design is to facilitate the synthesis of the radiopharmaceuticals used by our client by automating the process.
